Will The Amazon Kindle Lose Out to Apple’s New iPad?

After a long wait, Apple have finally unveiled their new tablet computer – and it’s called the iPad. It is undoubtedly a thing of great beauty but does it, as has been suggested in some circles mean the death of the amazon kindle e-book reader? Time will tell but, as versatile as the iPad is, it has two major shortcomings as an e-book reader – both related to the display. Due to the fact that the iPad use a back-lit display (whereas the Kindle use an e-ink technology display) it produces more eye strain when reading for long periods and, just as important, it needs a lot more power. The iPad can go for ten hours between charges – the Kindle can go for several weeks as long as the wireless is turned off.
