One of the ways that the FarmVille developers keep players interested in the game is to keep adding new crops, animals and trees for them to play with. Some of these are permanent additions to the game, others are more temporary.
The Sweet Seeds events are temporary special seed events – players pay Farm Cash to buy the special seeds (which don’t wilt, and give a good return on the investment), and get a license to plant the crop for a week. Half of the real world money raised (since Farm Cash has a real value) is donated to food charities in Haiti.
After the recent Haiti earthquake a new special seed event donated 100% of the money raised from selling White Corn to FarmVille farmers to disaster recovery charities in Haiti via the Haiti Relief Fund.
