did you know that if you bought an ip thermostat you could adjust your homes temperature online. and if you really want to go crazy with home automation software you can turn your cell phone (it has to be a smartphone like the droid, blackberry, or iphone) into one really fancy remote control for everything in your house. i had a friend who a while back was programming his iphone to control his tv. he gave up on the project when he realized someone would eventually do all the work for him and he’d be able to get an app to do it for free. now i just need an affordable coffee machine that’s internet enabled (the $2000 version is way to much for a coffee machine that is otherwise unremarkable).
